In this position, she treated many patients with complex surgical/orthodontic needs. She is very involved as an educator. She is adjunct clinical faculty, Marquette University School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics, Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Orthodontic Director for both the Cranio-facial and Cleft Palate Team at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.

She co-directs, with her husband Dr. Melugin, the surgical/orthodontic conferences at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Hanson has been married to Dr. Michael Melugin since 1994.

Michael Payne D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Michael Payne attended Marquette University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Following dental school, he completed an orthodontic residency at Marquette, earning his Master’s Degree and Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Payne continues to learn new research-supported orthodontic techniques by attending multiple continuing education courses and reading orthodontic journals.

Dr. Payne is an adjunct clinical faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, and Waukesha County Dental Society.

While in undergrad at Marquette, Dr. Payne met his wife, Allison, and they got married in August of 2012. In his free time, Dr. Payne enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to new music, playing golf and hockey, cooking, and cheering on Wisconsin sports teams.

Michael Melugin D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Michael Melugin is trained and board-certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics. He is one of only a few doctors in the world with this dual specialty status.

Dr. Melugin left his oral surgery private practice and a clinical faculty position at the University of Washington in Seattle to become the Residency Training Program Director for the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin (and to marry Dr. Hanson!).

Ten years later, he completed the Orthodontic residency program at Marquette University School of Dentistry and now splits his time offering his wonderful expertise to our patients as both an orthodontist and oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Dr. Melugin is also dedicated to education as An Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin and Clinical Faculty at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
