
Pamela Hanson D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Pamela Hanson received her dental degree in 1989 and her Masters Degree in Orthodontics in 1991 both from Marquette, after which she completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship in Craniofacial Abnormalities and Dentofacial Deformities at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Texas.
In this position, she treated many patients with complex surgical/orthodontic needs. She is very involved as an educator. She is adjunct clinical faculty, Marquette University School of Dentistry, Department of Orthodontics, Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Medical College of Wisconsin, and Orthodontic Director for both the Cranio-facial and Cleft Palate Team at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
She co-directs, with her husband Dr. Melugin, the surgical/orthodontic conferences at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Hanson has been married to Dr. Michael Melugin since 1994.
Michael Payne D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Michael Payne attended Marquette University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Following dental school, he completed an orthodontic residency at Marquette, earning his Master’s Degree and Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Payne continues to learn new research-supported orthodontic techniques by attending multiple continuing education courses and reading orthodontic journals.
Dr. Payne is an adjunct clinical faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics at Marquette University School of Dentistry. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Wisconsin Dental Association, and Waukesha County Dental Society.
While in undergrad at Marquette, Dr. Payne met his wife, Allison, and they got married in August of 2012. In his free time, Dr. Payne enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to new music, playing golf and hockey, cooking, and cheering on Wisconsin sports teams.


Scott Beard D.M.D., M.S.
Dr. Scott Beard received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Western University of Heath Sciences College of Dental Medicine. While attending WesternU, Dr. Beard was selected to join Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
Upon earning his DMD degree, Dr. Beard moved back to the Midwest to practice general dentistry in the Milwaukee area. After many years practicing as a dentist, he decided to advance his dental training in the area of orthodontics. Dr. Beard was accepted to the orthodontic residency at Marquette University, where he earned his Master’s Degree and Specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. Dr. Beard uses his years of training and experience to provide compassionate, high quality treatment to his patients at PHM Orthodontists.
Dr. Beard is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Wisconsin Society of Orthodontists, and the Wisconsin Dental Association.
When he’s not at the office, Dr. Beard enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. As a family, they enjoy vacationing up north, spending time outdoors, and cheering for the Badgers!
